Authentic and complete Siebe, Gorman & Co. scuba diving equipment – early 20th century.

Up for auction is a remarkable, completely original and complete set of classic scuba diving equipment, manufactured by Siebe, Gorman & Co. Ltd. of London.

This set represents an important piece of industrial and maritime history and is in a beautiful, unrestored condition.

Lot contents:

1. Siebe, Gorman & Co. diving helmet (12-bolt)

• Classic copper and brass diving helmet

• Authentic patina from years of use

• Features three ports with original metal grilles

• Original oval brass plate with inscription: "SIEBE, GORMAN & CO. LTD. SUBMARINE ENGINEERS, LONDON"

• Serial number: 17506 + 17531 (smashed on front window frame)

• Breastplate marked "PATENT" and "FRONT"

• Bolts and wing nuts appear complete

2. Manual air pump (in wooden box)

• Original twin-cylinder air pump

• Robust mahogany box with brass fittings

• Chest in very good condition with carrying handles and lock (key missing)

• Deep wood color with minimal signs of wear

• Two cast iron flywheels with wooden handles

• Marked "GORMAN & CO. LTD". Serial Number: 8841

• Control panel with two original pressure gauges

• Pressure gauge up to 100 psi/foot of salt water

• Marked with "Bourdon Pressure Gauge" and "Siebe, Gorman & Co. Ltd., London"

• Two original copper connections for air hoses

• Complete and original

• Not polished or restored

• Original patina retained

• Woodwork rich and unblemished

• Markings and serial numbers sharp and legible
