Description
Paddle steamer De Majesteit is a special sailing heritage from 1926, designed as a luxury passenger ship for the Rhine and a paragon of comfort and technology. With a length of 81.5 meters and a width of 15.65 meters, she is one of the largest paddle steamers ever built.

The ship is distinguished by its completely authentic propulsion: two paddle wheels, powered by an original 750 hp steam engine. This makes it the only paddle steamer in the Netherlands that actually functions on steam power – a rarity of international level. Thanks to the combination with a modern bow and stern thruster, De Majesteit has excellent sailing characteristics and high manoeuvrability, with a maximum speed of approximately 24 km per hour. History is rich and eventful. During the Second World War, the ship was badly damaged, after which it was carefully restored. Until the eighties it served as a passenger ship, followed by a period as a restaurant ship. In the nineties, a thorough restoration took place and since 1999 De Majesteit has been fully operational again and excellently maintained. There is approximately 1,000 m² of space on board, divided into several salons, each with its own character. The interior is authentic and timeless, with rich woodwork and brass and a warm atmosphere reminiscent of the Roaring Twenties and Art Deco. Large windows and sun decks offer panoramic views, while the historic engine room provides a unique insight into steam technology. Modern facilities such as climate control, a professional kitchen and audiovisual installations make the ship suitable for a variety of events, such as conferences, company parties and weddings. With its unique combination of history, technology and appearance, De Majesteit is a living monument and an exceptional opportunity for commercial exploitation. Moreover, a ship of this size and authenticity is rarely offered.
