Description
The ANI (Analgesia Nociception Index) allows a continuous measurement of the activity of the autonomic nervous system by the analysis of its parasympathetic component via the respiratory sinus arrhythmia. It uses the brief and rapid changes in heart rate induced by each breathing cycle (controlled or spontaneous) to quantify parasympathetic tone.
