As the old Defender neared the end of its production lifecycle in 2015, there were plenty of anniversary versions that waved the defender goodbye in style. As a result, all later Defenders became highly sought after, as they were by far the most user-friendly. They are still in demand, provided they are not used excessively – worth considerably more than a specimen from the previous decade. Which brings us seamlessly to this Land Rover... The vehicle Thanks to the penultimate series of upgrades that Land Rover made to the Defender from mid-2007, this Defender started its life considerably more comfortable than its predecessors. It is powered by the 122 hp Ford Puma 2.2-liter engine, which gets extra power thanks to a Garrett variable turbo. That means you get a very usable torque, which is transferred to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. In short, it is pleasant to use. This defender 90, so an ideal candidate was for a complete restoration this in a classic hue and personalized style. The car has undergone a complete body-off restoration, during which the bodywork has been completely disassembled. The chassis is sandblasted, painted in a metal way. The suspension parts have been re-treated, making them more durable than the original ones. The paint in the colour grasmere green is completely new and in Heritage style. In short, this is far from a standard Land Rover for work. On the outside This definitely doesn't look like a modern Land Rover, and as far as we're concerned, that's only positive. The Hue 'Heritage' homage continues with the classic grille emblem and steel rims – the latter painted in body colour. As it has just been painted, it is no surprise that the finish is very shiny and even. As a 90, this Land Rover is the variant with the shorter wheelbase of the common 110 variants (there was also a special 130 on order). Here there is room for 2 people, plus plenty of luggage space – in the back. The roof, with two windows, is painted in a contrasting but pleasant, classic-looking alpinawit. Essentially, the exterior of this Land Rover looks like new, which is not surprising given the thorough restoration that has been done to it recently. Inside Later Land Rovers became a lot more civilized on the inside. Of course there are countless modified Land Rovers to be found, but few with an actual improvement like this 90 with air conditioning, electric windows and remote control. The floor covering is made of quality carpet – supported by soundproofing that was missing from the factory. In the back we see a hardwood wenge floor that fits into the whole. The seats, door panels and centre armrest are all upholstered in supple premium Alcantara leather. Bottom The photo of the bodywork clearly shows that the seller has carried out this rebuild down to the last detail. Everywhere you look, you'll see new parts and freshly painted and coated metal surfaces where you'd normally expect dirty or rusty spots. Whatever you think of it, we're pretty sure you'll be pleased to hear that this example is unlikely to suffer from the usual Land Rovers corrosion issues anytime soon. Our quick take History is largely irrelevant anyway for a car so new, especially for a car that has been so recently and apparently thoroughly restored. The craftsmanship that has gone into the resurrection of this Land Rover is top-notch. We are confident that this appeal is broad and given the work on display, we believe this reborn Land Rover deserves an estimated value of €60,000 - €65,000.
