Maserati 3500 GT Touring Superleggera fully restored by Maserati's oldtimer department.
Exterior colour "Rosso Alfa".
Absolutely beautiful condition.
Certificate of restoration issued by Maserati.
First Maserati in history to be registered in the Netherlands.
Born from the genius of the Carrozzeria Touring in Milan and presented with great fanfare at the 1957 Geneva Motor Show, the Maserati 3500 GT represents a historic turning point for the Trident brand: that of the transition from pure competition to the mass production of an authentic road Grand Tourer. Designed according to the Superleggera patent — an aluminum body covering a tubular steel chassis — it seduced crowned heads and Hollywood stars from the moment it was released, from Prince Rainier III of Monaco to Tony Curtis, Rock Hudson and Stewart Granger. Less than two thousand examples were produced between 1957 and 1964, and only a handful of them remain today in a concours condition worthy of the greatest collectors. The example offered here has an exceptional pedigree: it is the very first Maserati 3500 GT ever registered in the Netherlands, in October 1959 – a historical milestone that gives it a unique heritage character.
The condition of this car is awe-inspiring. Fully restored by Maserati's own Classiche department – a guarantee of absolute authenticity recognised throughout the world – the car has a 1A condition described as "better than new" by the experts who inspected it. Every element of the mechanics, bodywork and interior has been taken to the original specifications, with the high standards required for a factory restoration. The chassis, engine and gearbox numbers are matched, and the history of the vehicle is fully traced by a complete documentary file. Presented in a classic red dress enhanced by timelessly elegant black leather upholstery, it has covered only 35,833 kilometres and seems to have never lived anything other than a pampered life.
Under its long bonnet vibrates the legendary 3,485 cc in-line six-cylinder engine, double overhead camshaft and twin ignition, directly derived from the winning block of the Maserati 350S competition car, powered by its original Weber triple-barrel carburettors. Mated to the four-speed ZF manual gearbox – exactly the configuration most sought after by purists, prior to the adoption of Lucas injection – it delivers the round suppleness and muffled rumble for which this engine is known. With a weight contained at around 1,300 kilograms thanks to its Superleggera construction and a top speed of almost 230 km/h, the 3500 GT still offers today a driving pleasure of rare richness, combining the nobility of the mechanical gesture with an elegance of silhouette that the years do not alter — on the contrary.
