About this lot
Harley-Davidson Servi-Car 1965 The Servi-Car was designed during the Great Depression, when Harley-Davidson was desperate to expand its product base to increase sales. The vehicle is aimed at the car service sector and is designed to help in the event of a breakdown on the road and to deliver cars to customers. For this reason, it was available with a towbar at the front and a large 60 Ah battery. It allowed one person to move a car from one location to another and drive back on their own; after driving the car to its destination, the delivery driver unhitched the Servi-Car and drove it back to the garage.
In addition to its intended use for car delivery and pick-up, the Servi-Car was also popular as a commercial vehicle for small businesses and mobile suppliers. It proved particularly popular with police departments, some of whom were still using Servi-Cars until the 1990s.
