For sale is an attractive gold medal made of pure fine gold (999.9), minted on the occasion of the ceremonial reopening of Dresden's Frauenkirche in 2005.
The obverse shows the impressive view of the Frauenkirche with the inscription "Reopening of the Frauenkirche 2005". The reverse shows the characteristic dome construction with the historical dates "Built 1743 – Destroyed 1945 – Reopened 2005".
Dresden's Frauenkirche is considered one of the most important landmarks in Germany and a symbol of reconciliation and reconstruction. This small gold issue combines historical background with high precious metal content and is an interesting collector's item.
