About this lot

1989 Land Rover Defender 90 V8 powered by the 3.5L V8 with 138 hp. Land Rover's design takes us back to a beach in Wales, just after the Second World War. The very beginning of Land Rover itself is the legendary story of brothers Maurice and Spencer Wilks, who sketched out the simple design of what would become an enduring and iconic classic 4WD vehicle. A simple design, because these were difficult times. Because, well, the war. Materials, even the most basic, were hard to come by. The example we present here today is in very original condition. We found her in a dry climate, which means that her original chassis still looks very good. She shows off her almost completely original paint. At CarCave, we love the original V8 Defenders. Especially with the combination with the bikini roof. But it also comes with a closed soft top. The V8 adds a layer of performance and sound. The interior presents itself very well and can handle a little rain from time to time. The dashboard is in beautiful original condition. In the back you will find a cargo space. We can easily place extra seats in the back and have her registered as a classic car. Mechanically, we have not left this Defender V8 untouched either. She has been serviced by our team and all wear parts have been carefully examined and replaced where necessary.

Frequently asked questions

How do I place a bid?

You can easily participate in the auction through the website. Log in as usual and navigate to the lot of your choice. On the right side of the screen, you will find 'Bid' and 'Auto Bid.' Click on 'How does this work' for more information about automatic bidding.

Click on 'Bid' to see the total amount of your bid, including the buyer's premium and VAT. After accepting the general terms and user conditions by checking the box, click 'Confirm' to place the bid.

What is reserve price?

A reserve price is the (non-visible!) minimum amount that a seller has set for a lot and is the lowest price for which the seller is willing to sell. The highest bidder who meets or exceeds this price wins.

If this price is not met, you can still have a chance to win. The closer your bid is to the reserve price, the greater your chance of winning this lot.

The lot is awarded to the highest bidder whose bid is equal to - or higher than - the reserve price at the end of the auction. If the highest bid has met the reserve price or more, the lot is sold immediately for this price.

What costs are added to my bid?

In addition to your bid, additional costs are incurred in the form of a buyer's premium percentage and VAT. These percentages vary depending on the country. VAT is applied to both your bid and the buyer's premium. Before confirming your bid, you will always receive an overview detailing all relevant amounts associated with your bid, including the final total. This way, you are fully informed about the total amount of your bid.

What is an auto bid versus a manual bid?

An auto bid is a way for you to automatically participate in a bidding process. You enter an amount you are willing to pay for an item and then automatic bids are placed for you up to your maximum bid - but only if necessary. Your maximum bid is hidden from other bidders during the auction. Placed auto bids are indicated by an "A" after the placed bid in the bid history. You need to update a manual bid every time someone outbids you. Keep in mind that an auto bid in the same level as a later manual bid will always lead the auction - because it was placed first.
