Description
Slim Aarons: was an American photographer whose most popular image, The Kings of Hollywood (1957), embodied the glamour, charisma, and celebrity he wanted to capture in his portraits. Attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places, Aarons once said to describe his practice. Born George Allen Aarons on October 29, 1916, in New York, NY, he served as a military photographer before turning to print journalism after the war. He wrote about the leisure of the rich and famous in beautiful settings, making the natural beauty of his subjects his focal point. Aarons gained the trust of those he photographed, and in turn was given permission to photograph some of the most intimate and heartfelt portraits of the 20th century. He died on May 29, 2006 in Montrose, NY at the age of 89. In 2007, Getty Images published a book featuring the work of the artist Poolside With Slim Aarons, ending his legacy.
